This field matters because lives are literally on the line. Patients trust health workers with their bodies, their privacy, and their families' futures. That trust rests on human qualities no technology can supply: clinical judgment, compassion, careful hands, and the willingness to be responsible for another person's care.

AI is a genuine assistant in modern healthcare — flagging scans, drafting notes, scheduling visits — but it never treats a patient on its own.
